SISENE

The Stewardesses and Pilots Trade Union was initially founded in 1996 for the purpose of negotiations with management when Maersk Air acquired 47 % of shares.  We switched over to awarding collective labor agreements and started negotiations in order to improve wage and working conditions. The first representative of employers in negotiations was Mr. Thørnbech.

Due to the different work specification, two separate trade unions ESSTU (Estonian Air Stewardesses and Stewards Trade Union) and EAPTU (Estonian Air Line Pilots Trade Union) were formed in 2001. Their close co-operation lead to the formation of the common organization Air Line Trade Union (Aviation Trade Union) on the 1st of November 2004. In 2005, for the purpose of the expansion, the name and charter were revised; currently Estonian Stewardesses and Stewards Trade Union (abbreviation did not change) is in use.

At this point, persons who have promoted the trade unionism deserve to be mentioned: Heli Thomson, Kaja Toots, Meelis Mäss, Karin Põder, Alan Volkov, Helen Lemberg, Anneli Pagar.
